Mechanical Engineering is perhaps the broadest and most diverse of the engineering disciplines, playing a centrol role in many areas from the automotive and aerospaces industries to biotechnology, computers, electronics, micoelectromechanical systems, energy conversion, enviromental control, automation and manufacturing.
The Mechanical Engineering Faculty carry out advanced research in experimental and theoretical fluid mechanics and aerodynamics, materials processing and solid mechanics, advanced materials, nanofabrication and biomechanics. Students benefit through the opportunity to work in these labs with internationally known mentors.

he Department of Mechanical Engineering provides separate teaching laboratories for the study of measurement techniques and instrumentation, fluid mechanics and aerodynamics, thermal sciences, material science and processing, solid mechanics, machine design, robotics, computer-aided design and manufacturing and a modern machine shop, as well as a laboratory for the use of micro computers and workstations in mechanical engineering.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has established several laboratories where advanced research related to mechanical, aerospace and bioengineering disciplines is carried out.
The Department of International Student & Scholar Services provides services and advocacy for the international students and scholars who are not permanent residents of the United States. Additionally, it provides pre-semester orientation programs and semester long workshops that assist with adapting to life in the United States while pursuing their education. Professional counseling assistance is available for students with immigration concerns, or academic and personal difficulties.
