The exam is made up of different types of questions that measure your ability in several skills. All test takers are evaluated on the same number of questions and answer the same type of questions. The duration of the test would also not differ from candidate to candidate and the testing conditions remain the same for all.
As the candidates progress through the sections of the test, the computer evaluates the responses and updates the score and selects the next question by adapting to the skill of the candidate. Hence GMAT is a Computer Adaptive Test. Candidates cannot skip or leave questions unanswered.
