Donald Trump may be making more favorable alterations to his visa policy proposal, but students around the globe, and more specifically their parents, are still worried.
Irrespective of whether students are from the list of banned nations, parents are apprehensive about their children studying in the US and are encouraging them to pursue their higher education in another country.
If you are one of these students or parents, you will be happy to know you have a much more welcoming option – Canada!
Canada is quick to monopolize on the situation caused by President Trump.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said, “To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength.”
The reasons for Canada encouraging immigrants from all over the world are simple enough.
The main reason is Canada’s slow birth rate, which causes a whole range of other problems.
As the population ages, the country needs more young and capable workers to keep the country running.
Favorable Laws and Policies
By this same logic, the Canadian government is coming to value international students even more.
Observing the need to improve policies and laws that make it difficult for international students to become Canadian citizens, the government plans to make some changes to the Comprehensive Ranking System that will especially encourage skilled labor. While students opting for a two-year diploma course will be awarded 15 points, a student opting for a degree, diploma or certificate with a duration of over three years, would be given 30 points.
Easier Path to Permanent Residency
According to Canada’s immigration department, the government is planning to implement a range of improvements to ensure that the immigration system is more responsive and will address emerging needs and ensure long-term economic growth for the middle class.
In addition to these changes, international students will be able to transition to permanent residency using the Express Entry System.
International students would also benefit from their time spent studying in Canada as they would be able to integrate more easily into Canadian society, having already established social networks and adapting to life in the country.
Indians Have Much to Gain
While the government of Canada has stated that its overall intake of newcomers in 2017 would remain around the same as they were in 2016, Indians have much to gain. The Canadian government has raised the targets of categories under which Indians are admitted to the country. These categories include the economic and family reunification classes.
Faster Visa Processing
Immigration lawyers claim that they have already observed a decrease in the visa processing time for Indians sponsoring their spouses, and expect that the processing time for parents too will be quicker as well.
Outstanding Quality of Life
Now, let’s take a broader look at why Canada is a good option for you.
Canadian universities are internationally recognized and the quality of education is excellent.
The quality of life is just as good, with The Economist listing Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver in its top 10 most livable cities of 2015 and 2016. Montreal was ranked among the top 20.
Attractive Job Market
Canada has a very attractive job market that is set to get even better according to the experts.
Some of the most popular industries with jobs-a-plenty are finance, software, automotive, aviation, construction, allied health, social work, pharmacy, human resources, culinary, manufacturing, horticulture, and nursing.
Considering these advantages, the case to pursue your education in Canada is quite compelling.
